Description:
Notes on book on evolution by Shull. 1st is double-sided, ends with a comment marked Bernard Lonergan. 2nd is a table, Geological Time, from Shull, p. 45. Conclusion of back side of 1st p. reads: Iterum (Bernard Lonergan) A species is the law of pure probability that any proportion of genes (at any given locus) remains the same under random conditions of mating, fertility and survival in an indefinitely large population. The definition envisages the causa materialis dispositiva; to the biologist the gene is a curious type of chemical compound (protein prob).
